[20-Aug-18] At right, Marine Chemist Ken Buesseler (WHOI) deploys a sediment trap from the R/V Roger Revelle. Sediment traps, which catch particles sinking through the water column, are used to study the fate and transport of carbon in the ocean. During EXPORTS, these sediment traps are employed in order to better understand what sinks and what is consumed or broken down before reaching the Twilight Zone.
